Hello! My name is Connor Annable, and I serve as the principal writer for Classical Concert Reviews Cinci. I have loved classical music since I was 4-5 years old. That love has translated to attending performances of the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestras for over 20 years. As more and more ensembles have sprung up in the last few years, and through connections I establish singing with my church choir, I have become an equally passionate supporter of organizations such as Vocal Arts Ensemble and Queen City Cabaret. In 2019, I graduated with a BA in Music from Xavier University in Cincinnati. Two years later, I graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Library Informatics.
Since both degrees involved a great deal of writing, the skills I developed in that area seemed to translate very well to writing reviews of concerts around Cincinnati. These reviews were initially shared primarily on Facebook to a small circle of acquaintances and friends. It was only within the last couple of years that I made the decision to share them through Instagram, hoping they would reach a much wider audience.
Many of the reviews I have contributed in the last year have gained a great deal of attention from performers and music lovers alike around Cincinnati, most prominently in several of the most recent marketing mailers sent out by organizations such as the Vocal Arts Ensemble and Cincinnati May Festival.
By highlighting concert performance reviews through this newsletter, I hope audiences will start to take notice to the artistic and value these and similar, smaller organizations have throughout the Queen City.
