An amazing performance of Benedict Sheehan’s setting of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol to round out a music-filled day. A specially-selected chorus of 20 singers, full of friends old and new, tackled Sheehan’s challenging yet engaging writing with grace, agility and excitement. As narrator, Rebecca Kuch brought this story to life in every conceivable way that just filled my heart with so much joy through her characterization of figures such as Ebeneezer Scrooge, the Marleys, Bob Cratchitt, Fezziwig and Tiny Tim. Honestly, what more can be said? Stephan Casurella conducted this piece with vigor, great sensitivity and full of imagination.
As this concert was given to support Move On Up, an initiative of @christchurchcathedralcincy to provide and support affordable housing to Cincinnati residents who are marginalized or otherwise struggling, it is a project that I hope will be done again annually or semi-annually. No doubt Krista Cornish Scott (@crunchy.kj) will be its fiercest champion.
Bravo to all involved!
